Open House at the Hollywood Theater, Saturday, May 15 from Noon to 5:00

The Hollywood Theater has been on Johnson Street since 1935, but has stood vacant for over twenty years. Here is a chance to see what the inside of the Theater looks like today.

The City of Minneapolis and the Audubon Neighborhood Association are sponsoring a free Open House for the public on the Saturday afternoon of Art-A-Whirl (May 15) from noon to 5:00. Visitors will be able to see the lobby, front corridor, and main hall. Areas such as the basement, backstage, and projection booth will unfortunately not be accessible.

The City of Minneapolis owns the Hollywood Theater and has pursued several attempts at redevelopment over the years that were unsuccessful, most recently this past summer. The building is still for sale for development, and the City, in consultation with the neighborhood, will consider viable proposals for a range of commercial uses.
