Audubon Neighborhood Association Seeks Community Organizer

Purpose of Position Summary

The Community Organizer is part of a team responsible for effectively reaching neighborhood residents, leaders, organizations and businesses. They shall assist the Neighborhood Administrator, board, and committees with newsletters, events, and other outreach efforts.

This person needs to enable and assist the organization to hold meetings that are productive, focused, and educational for the community, while working to develop community volunteers and help to identify potential organizational leaders.

The Community organizer position is parttime and works an average of 10–15 hours per week.


  • Participate in planning and attend events such as WingDing, Ice Cream Social, Annual Meeting, etc.

  • Participate in the communications committee and assist in managing a communications overhaul

  • Assist in recruiting volunteers for events

  • Identify areas for outreach and facilitate, including an all-Board social, tabling at Farmers Market and Eastside Coop, Northeast Parade, Johnstock, Art-a-Whirl, etc.

  • Editor and designer of printed and e-newsletters: story ideas, community event reminders

  • Build relationships with Johnson Street Merchants, Central Ave Merchants, Northeast Middle School, Audubon Park, Audubon neighbors, etc.

  • Manage social media and e-communications, including Facebook pages, MailChimp email blasts,

  • Attend all committee meetings as assigned, including evenings and weekends.

  • Give input into annual program and operating budgets, dependent upon committee work

  • Recruit neighborhood residents and other volunteers to help with activities and events, and to participate in the organization.

  • Organize new, active block clubs and help regenerate block clubs that are no longer active.

  • Assist in planning and running events.

  • Grow and maintain a network of partner organizations

  • Develop appropriate community activities to coincide with the Association’s strategic plan

  • Help committees complete program/goal/workplan evaluations as requested

  • Produce a print newsletter, email notices, which includes writing content from around, and pertinent to, the neighborhood

  • Other duties as requested or assigned

Required Skills and Qualification

  • Experience with Google’s G Suite real-time collaboration applications including Google Docs, Calendar, Sheets, Forms, Gmail, Groups and Sites.

  • Experience with authoring web content that uses best practices for usability and accessibility standards.

  • Experience with social media outlets such as Facebook and

  • Proven community outreach skills.

Salary and Compensation

Competitive salary based on experience.
