Agenda approved.

MNSure Community Outreach Liaison, Makeda Norris

  • Provided an overview of the MNSure program
    • Based off existing programs + Affordable Care Act
    • Marketplace for purchasing health care programs
  • Bottom line is that you can get insurance without going through MNSure, but if you go through MNSure, you can find out if you are eligible for tax stipends/subsidies or if you’re eligible for other state programs, such as MNCare or Medical Assistance.
  • Neighborhood librarian will connect with Makeda regarding getting navigators in place at the library.
  • Provided some overview of SHOP – program for small businesses.

Hollywood Theatre Update
Andrew Volna, Miles Mercer, Meghan Elliott, Councilman Kevin Reich

  • A lot of pre-development work has been done
  • Awaiting approval on the National Historic Register at the federal level
  • Soon moving forward with façade updates
  • Miles provided an update on city processes – looking at the terms of a redevelopment contract, which will go to the city council for approval before the property can be sold by the city to Andrew and the development team.
  • City would like to see an action of support from the ANA prior to moving this to city council (sometime in the next month). Per Councilman Reich, the ideal form that would take is an amendment to the previous action of support executed by ANA in December 2012.
  • Community continues to request transparency and community involvement in the planning of use of this building.
  • The lot across the street is posted for sale but the city is not taking active steps to sell the property (i.e. has not put out an RFP).

Nic Baker requested volunteers for the Wing Ding on May 3 from 11:00-2:00 for ticket sales.

Community commentary on the space – the space at the Coffee Shop doesn’t work well unless we have the entire room to ourselves.

Community request for information about the current Walgreens location – what is the plan for the existing space after Walgreens moves down the street? Do we know when that will happen? Discussion followed.

Sonja Peterson moved to adjourn, community member seconded. Meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm.
